The title of this piece is, admittedly, provocative. But it doesn’t claim that consumer choice is the only option for trust busting. The government obviously has an important role to play, but relying solely on the government is as problematic as relying solely on consumers. And given that the government is just as likely to be part of the problem as the solution (consider Ajit Pai’s reckless repeal of net neutrality), it’s dangerous to think that we — as both consumers and voters — are not empowered.
